Roof Garden Waterproofing
Roof gardens provide an excellent aesthetics, environment friendly atmosphere and cooling of rooms under roof reducing cost impact on electricity bill for A.C. If you plan to have a garden on your terrace, you need to waterproof with best systems & solutions, as it protects the roof from water leakage. This can be easily done by Nano Composite waterproof coating on mother concrete surface.

NANOFIX RECOMMENDS FOLLOWING PRODUCTS FOR YOUR ROOF GARDEN
Nanofix Flexeet :
Nanofix Flexeet is two components ready to use resin based Nano composite heavy duty waterproof coating.
Nanofix Torch Membrane :
This waterproof bituminous membrane is made of atactic polypropylene (APP) as the primary modifier. Thickness of the membrane is 3mm.or above and property complies with IS16532:2017.
Nanofix SYLO 200 :
Nanofix SYLO 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) is Polymer modified plasticizing liquid Integral Waterproof additive for Plaster & Concrete.
Nanofix Bituflex :
Nanofix Bituflex is high strength two component ready to use water proof coating based on special grade of bitumen encapsulated with Polyurethane.
Nanofix Plastoseal :
This is crack sealing compound. If any crak is observed on the mother slab, Plastoseal is applied to seal all the cracks. Joint between mother slab and parapet is also sealed by Plastoseal to prevent the seepage through joint, so that paint blistering and patches outside parapet do not appear.
Nanofix Bituseal :
Annular gaps of storm water outlets and other cracks can be sealed. Joint between mother slab and parapet is sealed by Bituseal to prevent the seepage through joint, so that paint blistering and patches outside parapet do not appear.
NANOFIX Methodology for Roof Garden Waterproofing
Step-1:- Surface preparation
- Surface should be dry cleaned by removing loose scales, dirt, dust, grease, oil etc. by wire brush.
- Any visible cracks to be repaired with Nanofix Plastoseal or Nanofix BITUSEAL.
- Junction between mother R.C.C. slab and parapet wall should be cleaned thoroughly and sealed with Nanofix Plastoseal or Nanofix Bituseal.
- All other annular gaps of pipes should be first grouted using cement, sand mortar with or without stone chips.
- After hardening and curing of mortar, the same is finished with Nanofix Plastoseal or Nanofix Bituseal.
- For additional protection, a fillet to be formed with cement sand mortar in 1:4 ratio admixed with Nanofix SYLO 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) at the halot portion (at the junction of parapet & mother slab ) to stop the water percolation.
Step-2:- Application of Nanofix Protective Solutions over & above the prepared surface
2.1 – Application of Nanofix Torch Membrane over & above the prepared surface.
Application Process :
- At the beginning the surface needs to be primed with Nanofix Torch Membrane primer.
- Lay Nanofix Torch Membrane, polyester reinforced APP membrane. Maintain an overlap joint of 100 m.m
- Laying of screed of M20 grade at an average 50 m.m. thickness over APP membrane admixed with Nanofix Sylo 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) @ 200 ml per bag of 50 Kg of Cement. The screed should be laid maintaining a slope of minimum 1:100.
2.2 – Application of Nanofix Flexeet over concrete screed as per recommended methodology.
Application Process :
- Mix Part A with Part B homogeneously and then add Water slowly to make Brush Applicable Coating (Mixing Ratio – Part A : Part B: Water = 1:1:1)
- Apply First Coat by Brush
- After drying of First Coat for 6 to 8hrs (Depending upon Weather Condition) apply Second Coat by brush uniformly
- Application of Nanofix Flexeet must be extended over the parapet wall upto 300 m.m height above the junction of parapet & RCC slab.
- Sprinkle Sand on applied surface before lying cement sand mortar of 1: 4 ratio at an average 50 m.m. thickness after second coat drying of 8hrs.
OR Application of Nanofix Bituflex over concrete screed as per recommended methodology.
Application Process :
- Stir the Product well before Use
- Apply First Coat (Primer Coat) of Bituflex by brush
- After drying of Primer Coat within 4 to 5hrs (Depending upon the Weather Condition) apply Second Coat (Top Coat) by brush uniformly
- Sprinkle Sand on Top Coat (When Tacky) before laying Plaster or Screed after 24hrs.
Step-3:- Application of Nanofix Protective Solutions over & above the prepared surface
- Dump or place soil before plantation.
Note :
- For critical or extensive roof gardening, Nanofix suggests laying of Nanofix torch membrane over the screed before placing soil replacing use of Nanofix Flexeet / Nanofix Bituflex.
- Nanofix also recommends lying of drain board with geotextile of 100 to 150 gsm ( depending on requirement ) before placing soil.

Material Handling & Safety Information :
- Nanofix product should be stored in closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Maintain safety during execution of the waterproofing jobs and due care to be taken while handling Nanofix & other construction materials.
- Nanofix materials are nontoxic. Hands and tools should be washed with normal water.
- NANOFIX recommends the enforcement of stringent health and safety measures at all job sites.
