Problems of Roof are one of the most costly and headache causing issues any home owner can ever encounter. No matter what type of roof you have- the smallest of damage could result in big repair expenses, especially for home owners.Defective roof waterproofing measure and wrong selection of product leads to seepage on the ceiling and affects R.C.C. beams and columns top underneath roof . Water ingression through concrete causes cracks, bond failure in R.C.C., damp patches and mold growth on wet areas, blistering of paint- plaster and corrosion in steel of R.C.C. structure. This is a common problem experienced by many home owners.
NANOFIX RECOMMENDS FOLLOWING PRODUCTS FOR YOUR ROOF
Nanofix Flexeet :
Nanofix Flexeet is two components ready to use resin based Nano composite heavy duty waterproof coating.
Nanofix 0102 :
Nanofix 0102 is acrylic co polymer based economical milky white waterproof coating compound with Nano particles for enhancing water proofing properties of concrete & masonry surfaces.
Nanofix Bituflex :
Nanofix Bituflex is high strength two component ready to use water proof coating based on special grade of bitumen encapsulated with Polyurethane.
Nanofix 2C :
This is a two component ready to use cementitious waterproof coating. One pack contains polymer and other pack is of selected blended cement with other additives. The filler part is added to emulsion copolymer ( 2 Kgs. of filler in 1liter of emulsion) and stirred well to produce a brush applicable homogeneous paint . Two coats of application is recommended.
Nanofix Bituseal :
Annular gaps of storm water outlets and other cracks can be sealed. Joint between mother slab and parapet is sealed by Bituseal. This is also used to seal joint between mother slab and parapet to prevent seepage through joint. This helps to avoid blistering of paint and damp patches outside parapet.
Nanofix Torch Membrane (APP) :
This waterproof bituminous membrane is made of atactic polypropylene (APP) as the primary modifier. Thickness of the membrane is 3mm.or above and property complies with IS – 16532:2017.
Nanofix Plastoseal :
This is a crack sealing compound. If any crack is observed on the mother slab, Plastoseal is applied to seal all the cracks. Plastoseal is also used to seal joint between mother slab and parapet to prevent seepage through joint. This helps to avoid blistering of paint and damp patches outside parapet.
NANOFIX Methodology for Roof Waterproofing
Step-1:- Surface preparation
Surface should be dry cleaned by removing loose scales, dirt, dust, grease, oil etc. by wire brush.Any visible cracks to be repaired with Nanofix Plastoseal or Bituseal.The floor and the wall junctions should be cleaned thoroughly and sealed by Nanofix Plastoseal or Bituseal.Any visible undulations should be repaired with cement sand mortar of 1:4 ratio admixed with Nanofix SYLO 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000)A fillet to be formed with cement sand mortar in 1:4 ratio admixed with Nanofix SYLO 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) at the halot portion ( at the junction of parapet & mother slab ) to stop the water percolation.
Step-2:- Application of Nanofix water proof coating over the prepared surface.
You are suggested to select any of the following four solutions for most effective roof waterproofing :-
Nanofix Flexeet :
Application Process : Surface should be Dry Cleaned by removing Loose Scales, Dirt, Dust, Grease, Oil etc. by Wire BrushMix Part A with Part B homogeneously and then add Water slowly to make Brush Applicable Coating (Mixing Ratio – Part A : Part B: Water = 1:1:1)Apply First Coat by BrushAfter drying of First Coat for 6 to 8hrs (Depending upon Weather Condition) apply Second Coat by brush uniformlySprinkle Sand only in case of application on Brick & Concrete Surface. Concrete Screed should be done after drying of minimum 8hrs. It’s better to lay concrete screed after 24 hours.The concrete screed should be of M20, admixed with Nanofix Sylo 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) @ 200 ml / bag of cement and laid at average thickness of 50 m.m. with required slope. ( suggested minimum slope 1:100 )
Nanofix 0102 :
Application Process : Surface should be dry cleaned by removing Loose Scales, Dirt, Dust, Grease, Oil etc. by Wire Brush.Any visible cracks to be repaired with Nanofix PlastosealPrepare waterproof coating by mixing Nanofix 0102 with water & cement in 1:2:2 ratio and apply the first coat by brushAfter drying of first coat for 6 to 8 hrs (depending upon weather condition) apply second coat in same recommended ratio by brush uniformlySprinkle sand only in case of application on brick & concrete surface. Concrete Screed should be done after drying of minimum 8hrs. It’s better to lay concrete screed after 24 hours.The concrete screed should be of M20 grade, admixed with Nanofix Sylo 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) and laid at average thickness of 50 m.m. with required slope. ( suggested minimum slope 1:100 )
Nanofix Bituflex :
Application Process : Surface should be Dry Cleaned by removing Loose Scales, Dirt, Dust, Grease, Oil etc. by Wire BrushStir the Product well before UseApply First Coat (Primer Coat) of Bituflex by brushAfter drying of Primer Coat within 4 to 5hrs (Depending upon the Weather Condition) apply Second Coat (Top Coat) by brush uniformlySprinkle Sand on Top Coat (When Tacky) before laying concrete Screed ( as mentioned above ) after 24hrs.
Nanofix 2C :
This is a ready to use two pack polymer modified cementitious brush applicable coating compound designed using copolymer with high elasticity property and fillers with graded cement and selected additives to ensure good compatibility and high strength.
Application Process : Moist the surface before application of Nanofix 2CApply the prepared homogeneous mix with brush (Mix Part A with Part B slowly in 1:2 ratio to prepare homogeneous mix)Apply second coat after 5- 6 hours of application of first coat ( depending upon temperature during application)Sprinkle sand over the surface when the second coat is tackyLay concrete screed ( as mentioned above ) over the coating at least after 24 hours of application of coatingUse Nanofix Sylo (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) @ 200 ml / bag of cement while making screed.
Alternatively, over and above the prepared surface you can use Nanofix Torch Membrane for waterproofing.
Nanofix Torch Membrane (APP) :
This membrane complies with IS – 16532:2017. Thickness: 3mm or above.
Application Process : At the beginning the surface needs to be primed with Nanofix Torch Membrane primer.Lay Nanofix Torch Membrane, polyester reinforced APP membrane. Maintain an overlap joint of 100 m.mLaying of screed of M20 grade at an average 50 m.m. thickness over APP membrane admixed with Nanofix Sylo 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) @ 200 ml per bag of 50 Kg of Cement. The screed should be laid maintaining a slope of minimum 1:100.
Step-3:-
Lying of Screed.The screed should be laid after drying of 8 hrs. It is advisable to lay screed after 24 hours.Top of concrete screed should not be neat cement finished to avoid development of random surface cracks.Concrete Screed of M20, admixed with Nanofix SYLO 200 (conforming to IS 2645-2003 & IS 9103-2000) @ 200 ml per bag of cement & should be laid at an average thickness of 50 m.m. at desired slope. Concrete screed can also be laid in panels to avoid cracks on surface.Curing the surface adequately.
